CAPE Tsunami Relief Resource Page

Here, you can access CAPE's tsunami relief resource page and (shortly) obtain information about relief projects and educational programs conducted by other private schools.

View Non-Profit Assistance Agencies

Here, you can access a U.S. government-compiled list of nonprofit agencies accepting contributions supporting tsunami relief efforts.

The entire private school community is deeply saddened by the vast and tragic loss of life and accompanying widespread devastation caused by the tsunami in Southern Asia.

Needless to say, each of us wishes to do what we can to provide assistance, support and encouragement at this time of overwhelming sorrow and need.

We also wish to help our students cope with the catastrophic dimensions of the disaster, while facilitating responses that reflect the values of compassion, responsibility and service that are shared by all schools in the "CAPSO Family."

To facilitate such responses, CAPSO's "parent organization," the Council for American Private Education (CAPE), has established a tsunami relief resource page for educators and students.

The CAPE resource page contains a link to a list of nonprofit agencies working to provide assistance to those affected by the tsunami.

The list was compiled by USAID, the U.S. government agency responsible for economic and humanitarian assistance around the world.

CAPE is also establishing a "clearinghouse" for sharing tsunami relief-related projects undertaken by private schools. Your school's fundraiser, assembly program, prayer service, lesson plans, etc. can provide resources and inspiration to other schools. In addition to providing a description of your program, please feel free to include copies of, or links to resource materials that may be of help to other educators. The information received will be made available through the CAPE website. Information should be emailed to: tsunami@capenet.org.

Please note that CAPE is not collecting money for the relief effort. Please do not send contributions to CAPE.

CAPSO thanks you for your responsiveness at this time of great sadness and urgent need.
