2003-04 Private School Database Now Available from CDE

The California Department of Education has released its Private School Database for 2003-04. The database, which contains information compiled from annual affidavits submitted by 3,753 private schools, is available for download (in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format) from the CDE website.

The 2003-04 data show total California private school enrollment in grades K-12, inclusive, at 599,630 students. Of these, 530,159 (88%) attend non-profit schools. Total enrollment in religious schools is 474,800, accounting for 79% of the state's total private school enrollment.

Schools affiliated with CAPSO member organizations enrolled a total of 465,863 students in grades K-12, inclusive, representing 78% of the state's total private school enrollment and 88% of the total enrollment in non-profit schools.

A comprehensive private school enrollment report will be issued by CAPSO in Summer, 2004–2006.
