![]() The California Department of Education has produced a new and expanded guidance document focusing upon elements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act that allow for the participation of private school students, teachers, and other education personnel. The document was mailed to California private schools, as well as to public school officials at the local district and county levels. The Guidance Document, as well as an accompanying cover letter from Chief Deputy Superintendent Gavin Payne, are now available for download (in PDF format), via the Private Schools section of the CDE website. It is important that private school officials whose students and staff participate, or plan to participate in No Child Left Behind programs, obtain a copy of the document and study its relevant sections. The contents of the Guidance Document provide a common set of guidelines for both private schools and the school districts with whom they will partner in facilitating the delivery of NCLB benefits to students, teachers and other qualifying staff.
