CAPSO board member and officer, Robert Federwitz, has been chosen to serve the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as its National Director for Schools. The ELCA operates 200 elementary and 30 secondary schools throughout the United States and the Caribbean. In addition, some 2,000 congregations maintain Early Childhood Education Centers. Collectively, these schools educate some 250,000 students and employ some 20,000 teachers.
For the past four years, Robert has served CAPSO with distinction as the organization's treasurer. As a member of CAPSO's Executive Committee, Robert has played an instrumental role in helping to guide the organization's growth and development. His colleagues know him to be a hard-working, dedicated educator who possesses an affable personality, a strong commitment to his faith, and a love of people, family and friends. While we will miss Robert's fellowship, we know that he will continue to serve California's private school community in his new capacity. Among other responsibilities, Robert will become a board member of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE). CAPSO extends to Robert and his wife, Ellie (also an educator!), every best wish for a smooth transition to their new home in the Chicago area and for great success, achievement and fulfillment in the years to come.
