Schools across the county, both public and private, have opened their doors to receive students displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The U.S. Department of Education has now established a clearinghouse to match schools helping hurricane victims with individual and corporate donors who would like to help such schools.
If schools are serving students displaced by Hurricane Katrina, and if they need books, clothes, desks, computers, or other supplies to help with that effort, they should visit:
Hurricane Help for Schools
There, they can register for the clearinghouse and state their needs. Private schools are encouraged to state their organizational affiliation(s) (e.g. Catholic, Lutheran, Montessori, etc.) if the name of the school does not directly convey such information.
