USHMM Professional Development Programs

This spring, the US Holocaust Museum will offer free, comprehensive professional development opportunities for classroom and pre-service teachers in Northern and Southern California. Two, three-day programs will be offered:

Northern California

March 27-29, 2003
University of California, Berkeley
Application Deadline: Friday, February 14, 2003
Southern California
April 3-5, 2003
San Diego State University
Application Deadline: Friday, February 21, 2003
  • No charge to participants
  • Full funding provided by museum for substitute teachers!
  • Outstanding Scholars and Teacher Trainers
  • Continental breakfast & lunch provided at no cost
  • Private school teachers welcome
Each three-day program will explore the content, methodologies and rationales for teaching this complex history. Emphasis will also be placed on "Literature and the Teaching of the Holocaust," and "The Use of Technology to Teach the Holocaust."

Individuals or teams of teachers may apply, with preference given to teams from the same school.
