CDE Asks Private Schools to Complete the 2003-04 Affidavit Process

According to the California Department of Education, a significant number of private schools have not yet completed the process of filing their affidavits for the current school year.

As of January 21, 2004, 422 private schools had completed the on-line portion of the affidavit, but have not signed and mailed a "hard copy" of the accompanying confirmation document to the CDE. These schools have not completed the filing process and are not currently listed in the CDE's private school database for 2003-04.

Additional private schools have not yet initiated the affidavit filing process.

Because the on-line filing procedure is relatively new, the CDE will continue to process affidavits received on or before March 26, 2004. (This is a special allowance for the current year only!)

CAPSO urges all private schools that have not yet completed the filing of the private school affidavit to do so at the earliest possible opportunity. If you are uncertain as to whether your school has completed the process, please:

  • Access the CDE's private school database to see whether your school is listed. To do this, please download this Microsoft Excel file in which schools are listed by county and school district.

  • If you cannot download the file, or should you require further assistance, please contact one of the following CDE staff:

    Teresa Cantrell 916-319-0371 tcantrel@cde.ca.gov
    Marlene Allin 916-319-0232 mallin@cde.ca.gov
    Christine Rodrigues 916 319-0313 crodrigu@cde.ca.gov

Please refer to CAPSO's Private School Affidavit Page for additional information about the affidavit and step-by-step instructions for filing, or go directly to the CDE's Affidavit Page to initiate or continue the filing process.
