For schools affiliated with a CAPSO-member organization: $25.00 (per-person)
For schools not affiliated with a CAPSO member: $80.00 (per-person)

Places are limited. Registration will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The presentation will cover a range of recent cases and newly enacted or revised statutes, as well as current trends that are of particular interest to private schools. We envision an interactive presentation where participants are encouraged to ask questions and share perspectives with their colleagues.

About the Presenters

Shelline Bennett has represented management in labor and employment-law matters for nearly 17 years. She has worked with both private and public employers, including cities, counties, special districts, housing authorities, and community colleges. She has an extensive litigation background in both federal and state courts.

As Managing Partner of the Fresno office, Shelline brings her extensive legal and management expertise to the numerous trainings and workshops she presents on topics including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, managing performance through evaluations, medical leave, discipline, hiring, firing, legal updates, Brown Act, ethics, and prevention of litigation.

She advises and counsels in all labor and employment-law matters, including the meet and confer process, wage and hour issues, disability and leave issues, and due process and disciplinary matters.


Brian Walter represents clients in all aspects of employment and labor law, including counseling on employment and labor relations matters, labor negotiations, training and presentations, employee discipline matters, administrative hearings, investigations and litigation.

Brian has handled numerous class actions and collective actions in federal and state courts. He has developed extensive expertise in handling Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) issues on behalf of many different employers. Brian also has extensive experience representing law enforcement agencies, including successfully defending employee discipline matters for sworn and civilian law enforcement personnel.

Brian has written amicus briefs on behalf of employer organizations to the Third Circuit, Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. Brian has represented independent schools regarding a wide range of employment issues. He has also provided training to independent schools on a variety of legal issues and has spoken at the California Association of Independent Schools Trustee conference and California Association of Private School Organizations annual conference.
