FFT provides funds for direct grants to teachers to support self-designed summer professional development opportunities. Teachers in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply.

The 2006 grant applications are available online for Pre-K through 12th grade teachers seeking professional development opportunities of their own design. Applicants must have three years teaching experience, be a fulltime employee and spend at least 50 percent of their time in a classroom setting. In addition, applicants must have the intention of returning to their school and/or district following their summer professional development. The 2006 application deadline is January 20, 2006.
