The California Association of Private School Organizations is the voice of K-12 private education in California. Its primary mission is to preserve the independence of California’s private schools and to uphold parental choice in education.
Membership Bylaws
ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP
Section 2.1 Membership in CAPSO
2.1.1
Membership in CAPSO is open to private, non-profit, pre-collegiate, independent and/or religious school organizations which: serve or operate private, independent and/or religious non-governmental pre-collegiate schools; subscribe to a policy of admitting students without regard to race, color, or national or ethnic origin; qualify for exemption from federal and state income taxes; and meet other such criteria as may be established by the Board of Directors.
2.1.2
Membership is presumed to be continuous unless notification of withdrawal is received from the member organization by March 1.
2.1.3
Application to CAPSO shall be by written request. Membership shall be granted by a two-thirds vote of the CAPSO Board of Directors, following a recommendation by the executive officers.
2.1.4
A list of member organizations shall be published each year.
Section 2.2 Membership Requirements
2.2.1
Member organizations shall abide by the CAPSO bylaws and the CAPSO Statement of Purpose.
2.2.2
Member organizations shall maintain good standing in CAPSO through the payment of annual dues. Annual dues are not refundable.
2.2.3
Annual membership dues are payable between September 1 and October 15.
Section 2.3 Termination of Membership
2.3.1
The membership of organizations that fail to meet requirements may be terminated by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors.
